New comics last added 3/20/05.
I have opened an e-mail account dedicated to the comic if
you'd like to talk to me about it: Larry.the.Labrat@gmail.com
E-mail me there if you'd like to receive notices when I (infrequently)
add new comics.
Larry the Labrat, in the tradition of his cousin Lenny, has a life full of bad physics puns and occasional insights into labrat life.
My brother created the labrat's with his comics about Lenny the
Labrat.
Larry was first introduced as a
long lost cousin to Lenny.
Other people also like making random physics cartoons, inlcuding the tale of Larry's favorite feline: Mu the Cat (Thanks Katherine).
I also read a large number of other comics (web comics and traditional, ~50 total), but I don't feel like linking them all. Feel free to ask me about them if you're looking for more to read.
Without further ado, my own additions (in roughly chronological order of creation):
Larry explains the difference between hippies and physicists.
Freelove
What to do when you have a headache.
Larry finds himself in a new lab.
Warning, the next two comics, although still black and
white, are a little off color.
Introducing
Lisa, who explains a
special distinction.
Larry returns from
Deutschland.
Dealing with
computer problems.
Larry explains
time.
It's important to have the right
equipment.
(I think I leave this one up to remind me I'm not as funny as I
occasionally think I am.
I was trying to make a lay/lie connection in relay rely. I've since
decided it didn't work.)
An
imposter in the lab!
Larry and Lisa talk about
homework and
books.
Larry and Lisa talk about
addition.
Lisa expresses a view on
music.
Even labrats have to TA, and they discuss their
students.
Some ideas just don't hold water.
Even labrats try to help
world peace.
(This one I actually put on the front of some T-shirts, with "Would you like a
hug?" on the back. Occasionally people
even take me up on it.)
Larry talks about a far away friend, Rudolph.
More discussion of the labrat's students.
Lab class
Graduate school can be really stressful, and some people respond by drinking.
Lenny and Larry discuss Judo.
Physicists complain about the english language, but it's not all the
languages
fault.
The labrats talk about
magazines.
Francis asks the professor about his
Quantum II
grade.
Occasionally, small news stories change how the labrats live.
Advice from the Prof.
Evolution of science questions.
An improving book (but the jokes stay the same caliber).
Writting your thesis can take quite a bit out of you.
Another difference between theorists and experimentalists.
Lisa and Larry talk about
cleaning.
(Here's an alternate form of the joke, talking about
the
Pope.)
Sometimes it's better when they don't understand:
cross
section.
Larry practices his ventriloquisim.
Month's ago, Larry had
this
complaint (on the Lenny site).
He's still complaining to Lenny about his lack of a
relationship.
Lenny has almost graduated.
Lenny has graduated!
(There's a very good reason for Lisa being the one to congratulate Lenny here
instead of Larry. Ask me about it sometime.)
Larry and Lisa talk about primates.
Larry proposes a mascot for the new clean room. (Cornell is currently building a new multimillion dollar nanofabrication facility.)
Some differences between Lisa and Larry aren't due to theorist/experimentalist.
Lisa and Larry discuss the classics again.
Larry and Lenny talk about the games women play.
Lisa and Larry talk about
bears
one might encounter while hiking.
(This one is long, make sure to read all three "frames.")
Francis is participating in graduate student social events.
Listening to
music is a nice perk to working in a lab.
(Bonus points to whoever names the three groups Larry is singing
along with.)
Lisa and Larry discuss a
small problem with the Mars Rover.
I admit that I stole this one from Ted Crane, who told it at contra
dancing. For more info on Ted or contra dancing, go
here.

The latest updates:
(some of these I've been sitting on for a while, but have put them up as is to get back into
writing comics)
Lisa and Larry have different tastes in music.
Really esoteric one from classical mechanics.
Larry and Frank talk about dirty laundry.
Some things should never be done (and some jokes are overdone).
Potential royalty infringement.
Politics in the quest for funding.
Larry returns from a conference.
Lisa and Larry
discuss a colloquim speaker.
Lenny shows off his newest project.
There are ideas for more of these scribbled in various lab notebooks. One
of these days I might even have the free time to "draw" and post more.
To return to my main
webpage.

Unless I'm very much mistaken, I own the copyright to the stuff on
this site, except for where my brother's creativity takes precidence.
You're welcome to link to or share these comics, but please leave
my name attached. I'd like for people to know who to blame. :-)
