ANNOUNCEMENTS       (last update September 11, 2007)

  • In case you didn't notice, the website has changed!
  • Here are some of the changes:
    • NEW google calendar with events and descriptions
    • NEW organizational structure
    • NEW Announcements section (duh!)
  • There will be a PGS barbeque this Sunday (Sept. 16)

Old Announcements

  • The PGS message board now has sections for Q exam questions, grad student profiles, and course reviews -- go check them out and post your own! Posting is especially important this time of year when first year grads are looking for research positions and picking spring courses, second year grads are planning to take their Q exams, and prospective grads are deciding whether to apply to Cornell.

  • Interested in helping plan PGS activities and events? Your help is greatly appreciated! Please email mhh32 today.

  • The PGS is happy to announce weekly research presentations and grad-directed tours of Cornell research labs for undergrads and new grads. See our research page for more info, or email mhh32 to volunteer to give a tour of your lab!

  • Check out our information on fellowships and postdoc positions.

  • Schrodinger's Cat will be the new 2006 physics tshirt. Congratulations to Pierre Thibault for designing this winning shirt! Check out the design here. Shirts will be available for pickup soon for those who placed advance orders by Monday 23 October. Stay tuned to email for pickup details.

  • We are compiling old TA materials (example problems, quizzes, etc.) to help reduce your workload and old grad course syllabi and assignments to help you decide which grad courses to take. To share your materials or see someone else's, contact Mohammad Hamidian (mhh32).

  • We still have a few cookbooks left for $8 each, which you can pick up at the weekly coffee hour (3-4 pm Wednesdays in the grad lounge). A PGS fundraiser, these cookbooks contain favorite recipies of physics grads and profs.
