Lecturer: Dr. Kathy Selby
TA: Curran Muhlberger

Welcome to Physics 1204 / Music 1466!

You are expected to attend:

Three lectures per week:
MWF 1:25 - 2:15 pm, RF 230

One recitation section per week (you must be registered in one of the two sections offered):
SEC 01 R 3:35 - 4:25 pm, RF 127
SEC 02 F 2:30 - 3:20 pm, RF 127

Please note there is no lab section to sign up for.

The course will include:

Two in-class prelims (45 mins each)

Ten-page term paper due at the end of the semester. (No final exam.)

Three or four field trips, scheduled during class time where possible.

Twelve homework assignments (due approximately weekly).

There are no labs, but you will do some simple experiments during recitation section, guided by the TA. Examples: making an "oboe" out of a drinking straw; or playing different instruments and looking at their sound spectra.

Please note that if you are taking the course S/U, you must still complete ALL of the above requirements to a satisfactory level!

I hope you will have as much fun taking this course as I shall have teaching it (a LOT of fun)!

Best wishes, Dr Selby
